chris stevens and three other embassy employees died in a rocket attack yesterday in benghazi, libya. the government isn't saying much about the attack, but secretary of state hillary clinton did announce late last night that a state department officer had been killed in libya. there have been violent protests in libya over a film an american made that was critical of the prophet muhammad. that film also sparked these demonstrations in egypt. this is the u.s. embassy in cairo where demonstrators scaled walls and tore down an american flag. most of the embassy staff had already left the compound. we aren't hearing of any deaths or serious injuries at that protest. we will monitor the situation in libya and bring you any updates that we receive. first, good morning to you. i'm eun yang. >> and good morning. i'm aaron gilchrist. >>> right now it is 6:00 a.m. the sun is soon to rise on another beautiful day around the washington region. a live look outside. temperatures 62 degrees here in upper northwest d.c. >> loving this weather. storm team 4 meteorologist tom keierein with our foreca

american. in libya last night, smoke and flames billowed out of the u.s. consulate in benghazi after they clashed with armed muslim protesters throwing handmade bombs at the compound. the gun men were outraged at a film which criticizes islam and the prophet mohammed. while strongly condemning the attacks, secretary of state hillary clinton confirms that one state department officer was killed in the protest. >>> earlier tuesday anger over that same film boiled over at the u.s. embassy in cairo. thousands cheered while demonstrators pulled down the american flag and replaced it with a black islamic flag. >>> the white house is denying reports with a split with israel over iran's nuclear weapons program. president obama spoke on the telephone for an hour with israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu. they are reunited in their determination to stop iran from building a nuclear weapon. the statement refuted earlier reports that the president requested a meeting with netanyahu in washington next week. netanyahu wants specifics of what would provoke a u.s. military led strike against ir

. arrests have been made in connection with tuesday's deadly attacks on the u.s. consulate in benghazi. more from tripoli this morning. good morning to you. >> reporter: good morning, savannah. officials have arrested suspects and they have several more under surveillance across the eastern part of the country, but they are not shedding any light as to who these individuals are and what role they may have played in the deadly atta. what we do know is according to libyan officials some of these individuals have been taken into custody after footage emerged at the protest which officials here say was essentially the cover that was exploited by militant groups. they are convinced so far that this was not simple police an outburst or a spontaneous outburst of anger against an anti-islamic film that appeared in the u.s., but rather a coordinated planned attack that way exploited by militant groups perhaps affiliated with al qaeda in the eastern part of libya. >> all right. that report from tripoli this morning with the latest. thank you. it's 7:03. here's david. >>> thank you. the violent anti-am
